Chapter 3: Performance Comparison
This section will focus on the performance metrics of both devices, including CPU, memory, storage, display, and keyboard quality.
Video Description: A detailed analysis of the performance of Mac and Windows PCs in 2024, providing insights into which is better suited for various tasks.
CPU Performance:
According to Tom's Hardware, the results from the GeekBench, Handbrake, and Cinebench tests show that the Alienware's i9–12900HK outperforms the M1 Max, which features only 10 cores compared to the Alienware's 14.
Memory Performance:
In my opinion, the Apple M1 Max with its Unified 64GB RAM is superior. Despite Dell’s high-speed 64GB DDR5 RAM, the latency of dual-channel systems is a disadvantage compared to Apple's integrated solution.
Storage Performance:
Dell offers 4TB of storage split between two 2TB drives, while Apple provides a single 8TB SSD. This difference makes Apple's offering much more appealing.
Display Quality:
In my view, the Liquid XDR display from Apple wins this round. Dell’s 4K display utilizes LCD-LED technology, while Apple employs Mini-LED technology, resulting in superior image quality.
Keyboard Experience:
This category is a tie! Both the CherryMX and Apple Magic keyboards are exceptional, making the choice dependent on personal preference and intended use.
Chapter 4: Pricing Considerations
When it comes to pricing, I have my own perspective. Is the extra $695 for the Apple MacBook Pro justified?
- Yes: If you are a content creator or video editor, the investment in the Apple device pays off with better display accuracy, faster RAM, and significantly more internal storage.
- No: If you are primarily a gamer, the Alienware X17 R2 is clearly the better choice, designed specifically for that purpose.
Ultimately, the decision lies with you! Which one will you choose?
