Creating a Morning Routine You’ll Actually Enjoy

Chapter 1: Transforming Your Mornings
Mornings can be challenging for many, including myself. I used to be that person who snoozed the alarm multiple times, finally racing out the door in a frenzy. If you're reading this, you might be looking for ways to enhance your mornings, and I commend you for that!
To kickstart my change, I decided to wake up just 15 minutes earlier. I focused on simple actions like making my bed, brushing my teeth, and hydrating with a big glass of water. These tasks felt manageable and set a positive tone for my day. If you're interested in personalizing your morning routine, you likely have some ideas already.
I began my journey with "The Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod, which outlines a beneficial six-step morning process he calls Life SAVERS: Silence (meditation or prayer), Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing (writing). After incorporating this routine, I noticed a significant improvement in my daily mindset.
However, I found myself slipping back into old habits after about a month. Through trial and error, I discovered three effective strategies to enhance my morning routine.
Section 1.1: Identify What Matters Most
Initially, my Life SAVERS routine took over an hour, not including my original 15-minute routine. I adjusted it to fit within 45 minutes, but I still wasn't completing all the steps.
If you're facing a similar dilemma, pinpoint what aspects of your morning bring you the most benefit and positively influence your day. Eliminate elements that don't serve you. Feel free to craft your routine based on what resonates with you rather than adhering to someone else’s formula.
Subsection 1.1.1: Optimize Your Actions
To maximize your morning, prioritize what is essential to your focus and intention. For me, I tailored my journaling to concentrate on daily goals and intentions. I combined my silence, affirmations, and visualization practices into one cohesive segment. I decided to skip reading in the morning, opting to read later in the day, and reduced my exercise to stretching, balance, and core workouts.
Section 1.2: Infuse Fun Into Your Routine
A key realization was the importance of making my morning enjoyable. I introduced a 10-minute dance session to uplifting music, blending stretching and core exercises into the fun. This way, I could wake up excited, looking forward to energizing my day with music.
I’m not saying you must start dancing, though it could be a delightful experiment! Instead, find what brings you joy in the morning. If you’re unsure what excites you, keep experimenting until you discover something that motivates you to rise and shine.
Chapter 2: Crafting Your Unique Routine
The first video provides valuable insights on creating a perfect morning routine and sticking to it, offering practical steps that can transform your mornings.
The second video presents 20 creative ideas for crafting a personalized morning routine that resonates with you, ensuring that it’s tailored to your unique preferences.
In Conclusion
Design a morning routine that aligns with your interests—avoid sticking to something that doesn’t bring you joy. Keep experimenting with new activities until you find a morning practice you genuinely look forward to.
The length and elements of your routine are entirely up to you. Personally, I wake up at 4:30 AM due to living near a rooster farm, but I don’t recommend waking up earlier than necessary for a fulfilling day. Choose a wake-up time that works for you, and embrace it without hesitation.
If you haven't yet established a morning routine, consider starting one and testing it for a week. Adjust and refine it until you uncover what you love.
