# Achieving My Writing Goals: 22 Articles in March 2024

Written on

Chapter 1: A New Beginning

In March 2024, I accomplished something remarkable: I wrote 22 articles, an achievement that fills me with pride. Until recently, I had never approached my writing with such seriousness.

Last year, I took a leap of faith and moved into a van in central London. Those five months were some of the most exhilarating of my life. However, I decided to return to a flat at the start of this year, which required a two-month adjustment period as I reacquainted myself with shared living, surrounded by people from diverse backgrounds. Once I felt settled, I was eager to rekindle my writing habit.

Writing has always been a passion of mine, but this time, I made a conscious decision to adopt a radically different approach.

Chapter 2: Finding Focus

During the week, my time is largely consumed by my 9-to-5 job in finance. While others might find it engaging, I find it dull. Nonetheless, my colleagues say I perform well. Deep down, I know I'm a creative individual, and writing serves as my primary outlet for self-expression. Alongside writing, I enjoy reading, which complements my creative endeavors.

Being back in a flat, equipped with a workstation featuring three monitors and no significant responsibilities outside my job, meant only one thing: it was time to write more than ever before.

Section 2.1: The Writing Strategy

I’ve never been the best at managing my time—or at least, that’s how I perceive it. However, when I truly want to accomplish something, I always find a way. By now, I know myself well enough to recognize that if I want to establish a new habit, I need to practice it daily. Thus, I committed to writing every evening after work.

This routine allowed me approximately four hours each night to craft articles. Although I had a specific focus for my writing career, I permitted myself the freedom to explore various topics throughout the month. This process helped me rediscover my passion for writing, and it felt incredible.

Section 2.2: Daily Schedule

A typical day in my life looked like this:

  • Wake up at 6:30 AM
  • Work from 9 AM to 5 PM (more precisely, 8:30 AM to 5 PM)
  • Write from 8 PM to 12 AM

Then, I would repeat this cycle the next day. During weekends, I aimed to write at least two articles daily.

Section 2.3: Overcoming Obstacles

After nearly 14 hours of waking, including an exhausting 8-hour workday, it’s challenging to articulate my thoughts coherently in writing. The most significant hurdle was my job. Some days were more hectic than others, leaving me drained by the time I clocked out. To combat this fatigue, I chose to extend my dinner breaks, allowing for some relaxation before diving into writing between 5 PM and 8 PM.

At work, I spent eight hours in front of three monitors, and my writing setup mirrored that. The sheer amount of screen time I endured daily is staggering, but I understand that this is part of my journey until I can transition to a full-time writing career.

Section 2.4: Achievements

Despite the challenges, I triumphed. Not only did I manage to write daily, but I also produced 22 articles that I take pride in. More importantly, I established a habit. Writing has now become an integral part of my daily routine.

Throughout March, I primarily focused on topics related to building an online business while maintaining a full-time job, reflecting my current journey. I also explored themes like audience development, improvements in the self-help industry, and personal anecdotes from my workplace. Here are some of the articles I wrote in March 2024:

  • The One-Person Business Model is The Future of Entrepreneurship
  • The Problem With Self-Help and the Crucial Change Men Need to Make in Their Approach
  • 7 Deadly Sins of a Serial Procrastinator. Are You Guilty of These Too?
  • Remember, Hard Work Doesn't Always Equal Success!
  • This Simple Blueprint Can Help You Launch Your Online Business Successfully (Part 1/2)

Chapter 3: Highlighting Success

Among the nearly 25,000 words I wrote this month, one article stood out as my most popular, despite not being submitted to any publication. It took me three nights to gather all the necessary information and create it, and the topic resonated strongly with my audience.

Interestingly, only 8% of the traffic came from Medium, while a whopping 92% originated from Google. As a result, this particular article achieved a read ratio of 30%, which, considering its 12-minute read time, isn’t too shabby.

Section 3.1: Conclusion

This past month posed significant challenges, but I embraced them wholeheartedly. It’s easy to find excuses, but I believe that the difference between aspiring writers and those who write for enjoyment lies in their commitment. Writing is indeed enjoyable, but by treating it seriously this month, I proved to myself that I could summon the energy to write every day.

Looking ahead, my goal for next month is to increase my article output in April.
