The Absurdity of the Super Bowl: A Comedic Perspective

Chapter 1: The Super Bowl as a Social Commentary
The Super Bowl often feels like a farce. Honestly, do I really need another reason to indulge in drinks on a Sunday night?
Is anyone still tuning into sports these days? Since the onset of the Covid pandemic forced me to step away from the industry, I’m genuinely curious.
Having been involved in countless games, I’ve never quite grasped the allure of sports. The sheer obsession many exhibit over grown adults chasing after balls on a field baffles me. Apologies for my earlier comment; it's not just men who get caught up in this frenzy—women do too.
Let me clarify that sentiment.
Through observing fans, I’ve had some enlightening realizations. There’s something inherently primal about it, isn’t there? A deep-seated urge to partake in some form of competition. It taps into a sense of tribal identity. When I invest my self-worth into a team or a standout player, I feel a part of their triumph. I share in their victories, albeit from a distance.
It's all about the bragging rights.
The world of sports mirrors American politics, and vice versa. The victor takes everything; the defeated simply pack up and head home.
That used to be the norm, but things have shifted.
Nowadays, it seems like the game never truly concludes until one side gets its way. The definition of “winning” has morphed into a relentless pursuit of dominance, with “legitimate political discourse” allowing for sore losers to act out violently. Democracy has devolved into a cycle of grievances following a loss, culminating in dramatic confrontations like the Capitol storming, all to ensure their “team” remains on top.
I often wonder if the aftermath of the Super Bowl will be scrutinized as thoroughly as the results of Biden’s election.
Could we see death threats against referees simply for fulfilling their duties as mandated by the NFL? Maybe we’ll witness nooses appearing outside NFL headquarters in protest?
I can't help but ask if The Big Liar has picked his team yet. Should they falter, will his band of “very fine people” storm the NFL offices demanding an investigation into every call until they find some “fraud”?
Oh, how delightful that would be!
Clearly, they need better ways to spend their time. This time, though, they’ll be inebriated, and so will the rest of the nation.
What a spectacle!
Go sports!
