Reflections on the Writer's Journey: Embracing Reality

The Reality of Publishing
Writing and publishing often feel like a paradox, much like the laws of thermodynamics:
- You can't come out ahead.
- You can't simply maintain your position.
- You cannot exit the arena.
No one disclosed the harsh realities until I had ventured too deep. The plight of being a writer, an artist, or a poet with a heart is a challenging one. It's wise to steer clear of this hidden trap disguised under the allure of creativity. The struggle with words can lead to a slow spiritual decline and the extinguishing of joy and hope. Each submission feels like digging a grave in a rigged game. They're searching for something already discovered, and you may not fit that mold.
These restless nights spent in alternate realms are exhausting yet invigorating. If you think you will write your way to freedom, you may have already crossed a line. If you anticipate achieving greatness, then the illusion has taken hold of you like a persistent echo. If you believe that fulfillment will arrive with accolades or recognition, you've already squandered time waiting for something that may never come.
The idea that you will never write again once published by a major house suggests a disconnection from reality. This world can feel barren—filled with deceit and imprisoned souls bound to ephemeral words. The notion of fame is merely a collective delusion fueled by madness, a dangerous kind that masquerades as sanity.
There are no true saviors here, only flawed beings seeking redemption. With a bottle in hand and hope resting beside us, we share in the entropy of existence. Just as there are no true immortals, for we all succumb to decay, I understand your struggles. I recognize the resonance of your heartbeat and the weight of your experiences.
You, like me, know that the only way forward is to exist in a world that feels lifeless, to find meaning within the chaos. I understand your passionate love for the craft and those sleepless nights filled with tears and caffeine. I feel the solitude that comes with leaving friends and lovers behind.
I am aware, as you are, that I cannot dissuade you from the leap into the unknown, from seeking that exhilarating rush. If you must venture forth, do it wholeheartedly.
