Navigating the Path to Growth: Insights from My Writing Journey

Chapter 1: The Beginning of My Writing Journey
Are you feeling anxious about embarking on something new? Don’t let that hold you back. I’m here to share my experience of starting from scratch.
Not a writer? That’s perfectly fine; I started from the same place. Every meaningful endeavor requires bravery, so don’t hesitate.
Sit down, write, revise, and publish—repeat this process. Embrace learning as you progress. If you never open a new document, you’ll miss the opportunity to experience growth. Each transition marks a step forward.
Remember, there’s no definitive way to tell a story or a correct style of writing. There are merely guidelines to help you structure your work in a way that resonates with readers.
Initially, I had zero views. However, after analyzing a year’s worth of statistics, the growth in my views and reads is evident.
Let’s delve into some data.
The story that captured the most attention, with 11.7K claps and 196 comments, was titled "Don’t Stop Writing." The crowd goes wild!
This piece achieved the highest number of views in a single day, bringing immense joy to my writing experience.
Chapter 1.1: A Recap of Our Medium Pub Crawl
Here’s how the day unfolded.
After reviewing a year’s worth of data, it’s clear that my views and reads fluctuated significantly. During the first half of the year, both metrics were below 500. However, in the latter half, my views surpassed 1,000, except for January, while my reads were nearly half that amount, which is commendable.
First Six Months
Last Six Months
Comparing the two halves of the year reveals a noticeable difference. Over time, my views and reads increased significantly. The dark green line in the graph indicates that reads have moved away from the x-axis, illustrating growth.
Chapter 2: Observations on Growth
Growth is not a straight path. We learn, practice, and sometimes advance quickly, while other times we must take things slowly. Life often throws distractions our way, but perseverance is key.
The graphs and statistics show that my writing has improved. While the journey was gradual, growth did occur. Ultimately, it’s about the writing experience, not merely the numbers of reads, comments, or income.
Over time, all metrics—views, reads, comments, followers, and subscribers—increased, reflecting my unique writing journey.
If you allow yourself the time, growth is inevitable. It may not follow a linear trajectory, but progress is achievable at your own pace and in your own circumstances.
Four Goals Moving Forward
- Bridge the gap between views and reads.
- Boost the number of reads.
- Establish a consistent publishing schedule.
- Continuously enhance my writing skills.
These objectives require considerable effort, which is why having structured processes in place is essential. Improvement will take time, and there is no rush. My focus will be on gradual progress in writing.
One challenge that remains beyond my control is the phenomenon of users who clap and swiftly move on. Some accounts would clap for multiple stories within a couple of minutes. Noticing a spike in activity in January and February, I can see it reflected in the graph. However, this trend has since stabilized.
