Mastering the $ASTRO Wars: My Strategy Unveiled
Written on
Chapter 1: Introduction to $ASTRO Wars
In my previous article, I delved into the significance and intricacies of the $ASTRO wars. Today, I’ll guide you through my step-by-step approach to engaging with this initiative.
In the earlier piece, I highlighted Retrograde's intriguing concepts that warrant attention. You can find that article [here](#). Since then, a whirlwind of developments has unfolded, making it challenging to stay updated:
- Nearly all participants have either announced or launched their $ASTRO initiatives:
- Reactor.money
- ApolloDAO
- Spectrum Protocol
- Orion.money
- Retrograde has shared their launch specifics.
I appreciate danku_r's concise overview of whom to consider for the $ASTRO wars. He summarizes the key players succinctly:
- @retrogrademoney: Expert in vxASTRO
- @ApolloDAO: Governance-focused web3 entity favoring ASTRO
- @reactor_money: aficionado of veTokens
- @SpecProtocol: Specialist in ASTRO enhancements
- @orion_money: Engaging in NFT incentives related to ASTRO
What strikes me is Retrograde's commitment solely to xASTRO/vxASTRO.
Section 1.1: My Strategy
Since I don't possess an extensive xASTRO stack, I prefer not to dilute my holdings across multiple protocols that would require ongoing monitoring, especially when considering the myriad of Terra projects I am already involved with. Questions like: Will the peg hold? Are there updates to tokens or contracts? I prefer a streamlined approach.
Thus, my choice is to focus on just one player.
I've grasped that Retrograde aims to accumulate xASTRO and won’t be diversifying their treasury with other tokens (unlike Reactor). I find this singular focus appealing. Coupled with two security audits and robust tokenomics, I believe Retrograde is a solid contender for my xASTRO.
A pivotal thread by FarmerTuHao swayed my decision:
As he mentions, being a moderator on the Retrograde Discord may introduce a bias, but I found an additional incentive for choosing Retrograde.
Section 1.2: Understanding Peg Defense
Let's briefly explore what it means to defend the peg.
Retrograde's goal is to gather and secure as much xASTRO as possible. To provide users with a liquid token, they have introduced rexASTRO, a token pegged to xASTRO. A liquidity pool on Astroport is essential for facilitating swaps. If an excessive amount of rexASTRO is sold, the pool could become unbalanced, jeopardizing the peg. This aspect is crucial in the $ASTRO wars—determining who can provide a liquid staking derivative that maintains the peg and ensures liquidity.
Chapter 2: My Plan Moving Forward
I plan to retain my RETRO Airdrop and will invest a small amount in the RETRO token generation event.
At the launch, I will lock my xASTRO during Phase 2 of the launch:
Phase 2: ASTRO / xASTRO "Boosted Conversion" Event
- Gain a more substantial share of the total RETRO supply.
- Deposit ASTRO or xASTRO.
- Receive RETRO + rexASTRO + LP tokens after three months.
- After three months, rewards will be fully claimable.
- Once vxASTRO is operational, all accrued rexASTRO yield will be distributed back to participants from Phase 2 along with their rewards.
Conclusion: Simplified Engagement with $ASTRO
In summary, I will stake my xASTRO with Retrograde and receive "free" RETRO tokens for holding. While I am aware of the smart contract risks, the potential of the peg failing, and the competition from other players in securing $ASTRO, I prefer to keep my strategy straightforward, maximizing my exposure to the $ASTRO I would already be holding. I have confidence in Retrograde's dedication to focusing solely on xASTRO governance.
This is, of course, not financial advice; I encourage you to conduct your own research!
