Embracing Your Worth: A Journey to Self-Validation

Chapter 1: A Heartfelt Reflection
“I don’t feel deserving of the job I desire.” — The Story of Amy
For a decade, I have been waiting to articulate this message.
Indeed, you are worthy.
Before my sister Amy took her life, we shared a walk where we discussed her life, her battles, and her aspirations. After leaving a long-held job for a better opportunity, she confided in me about her struggles. At that moment, I was merely a listener without the right words to offer, a regret that lingers with me today.
One statement stood out profoundly:
“Mike, I don’t feel worthy of getting the job that I want.”
While I was at a loss for words then, a decade has passed since her absence. Throughout the years, I’ve mentored others and observed a disheartening pattern of feelings of unworthiness echoing among my peers. It saddens me to witness my friends and colleagues grappling with emotions similar to those of my beloved sister.
Now, I feel prepared to respond. I hope my words can uplift someone in Amy's memory.
Yes, You Are Worthy
They are worthy. You are too.
Let’s be candid:
You invest so much of your life into your work. Often, we equate our self-worth with our accomplishments, careers, or roles we play. However, true worth originates from our being, not our actions. Your value is inherent and not contingent on your job or any title. It is reflected in your kindness, empathy, laughter, and your ability to make others feel appreciated—these qualities render you invaluable.
We often fall into the trap of believing we must attain perfection to be worthy. We feel the need to be flawless in our work, appearance, and character, fearing mistakes. But perfection is a mirage. Your quirks, vulnerabilities, and struggles make you human and allow you to connect with others.
You have aspirations, and you deserve to chase them without the burden of self-doubt. Social media does not help either. It’s easy to view everyone’s highlight reels and feel inadequate. Remember, you are often comparing your behind-the-scenes with their best moments. Avoid getting ensnared in this comparison trap.
It's common to feel inadequate, especially when venturing into unfamiliar territory. However, taking risks is where you will discover growth and fulfillment. Your aspirations are valid, and you possess the capability to realize them.
We need not face our struggles alone. It is perfectly acceptable to seek assistance, to lean on friends, family, or professionals who can provide support. I regret not having the right words for Amy, but I wish for others to understand that seeking help is a sign of strength.
Your challenges and feelings of unworthiness are integral to your journey. While I wish you did not have to endure this pain, I also recognize it shapes who you become. Your narrative can inspire those who feel lost or unworthy.
Life is fleeting and precious. It is vital to treasure every moment and find joy in the little things. Too often, we become so entangled in our insecurities that we forget to appreciate the beauty surrounding us. Your existence is a gift, and your spirit uplifts those who cherish you.
You are worthy.
Your aspirations matter.
Your challenges do not define you.
However, they can mold you into a stronger, more compassionate individual.
The 5 Immutable Laws of Worthiness
Now, picture me sitting across from you, gazing directly into your eyes. I see your struggles, pain, and doubts, and I want you to truly hear me, for what I say next is meant for you. I can no longer share this with Amy, but I can share it with you.
Here are my 5 Immutable Laws of Worthiness. These principles serve as reminders of the truths that may sometimes feel distant, yet they remain within you. They are unwavering and constant, regardless of your circumstances or the passage of time.
Your existence is a miracle
You are enough. Not when you achieve that goal, but right now. Your worth does not fluctuate with your accomplishments or mistakes. Your very existence is sufficient.
Your value isn’t earned; it’s inherent
Understand this: your value does not require proof or validation. It is inherent. You were valuable from the moment of your birth. No job or achievement can enhance or diminish that intrinsic worth.
Your imperfections make you real
Your imperfections make you relatable and human. They are part of your unique narrative and strength. Your past does not dictate your future. You are continuously evolving and growing. Your worth is not tethered to past experiences.
Your dreams are valid
Never allow anyone, including yourself, to belittle your dreams. They reflect your deepest desires. You have every right to pursue them, no matter how ambitious they may seem.
Your strength lies in action
Trust in your abilities. You possess the skills and determination to achieve your dreams. Don’t allow self-doubt to hinder you. Take bold steps towards your goals. Courage accompanies action. You may encounter failure, but you are resilient and can conquer any challenges.
Life can be daunting, and feelings of unworthiness can overwhelm you. Amy’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of recognizing and embracing our worth. While I can no longer convey these thoughts to her, I hope they resonate with you.
You are enough, just as you are. Your worth is not defined by your job, achievements, or external validation. It is rooted in your existence and the unique qualities that define you.
So once more, dear reader, yes, you are worthy.
You are worthy of the career you desire.
You are worthy of happiness.
You are worthy of existence.
If you find yourself struggling with similar feelings, please reach out to someone. We all require support at times. Seeking help is a testament to your strength and courage, demonstrating your understanding of healing and the power of vulnerability. Surround yourself with those who uplift you, reminding you of your worth and standing by you through every challenge.
Dedicated to the memory of my dear sister Amy, 1972–2014.

Chapter 2: Exploring Worthiness Through Music
Music has a powerful way of reinforcing our sense of worthiness.
The first video titled "Yes You Are Worthy (Live) // Eagle Brook Music" encapsulates the essence of recognizing your worth and embracing your journey.
The second video, "Yes You Are Worthy (Lyric Video) // Eagle Brook Music," further emphasizes the message that you are indeed worthy, regardless of the challenges you face.
