Creating a Life of Inner Peace: Prioritizing Yourself
Written on
Chapter 1: The Importance of Selfishness
Let’s be frank: achieving your dream life requires effort. This is especially true if your personal boundaries are weak.
By "effort," I mean the commitment to two key aspects that help sustain your energy levels, allowing you to keep your goals in sight.
Avoid Weak Boundaries at All Costs
When your boundaries lack firmness, you may face numerous negative consequences, the most detrimental being a depletion of energy for yourself. If you feel drained by the end of the day, how can you remain in tune with the vibrations of your aspirations?
Weak boundaries can lead to various issues, such as a tendency to please others, energy depletion, adrenal fatigue, and burnout.
It’s a well-known saying that you can’t give from an empty cup, and it holds true. It’s essential to establish and uphold boundaries concerning family, friends, work, and even distractions like app notifications.
Your ability to set these boundaries may vary. For example, I can easily set loving and firm limits with my family, yet I struggle to resist the lure of my phone every few minutes. To combat this, I switch my phone to “work” mode to avoid notifications until I choose to respond.
Work can also be a challenging area, as many of us believe that our abundance comes from a single source. If you find it difficult to leave work at work, consider exploring why that might be the case for you.
Are you worried that if you’re not always accessible, you could risk your job? If so, it might be time to open your mind to additional avenues for wealth. You could even start a business based on any skill you possess.
Make Time for Self-Care and Personal Growth
Creating your ideal life requires deep inner work, regardless of your presence on social media. This is not optional.
You cannot genuinely claim you deserve a life that would make Beyoncé envious if you don’t fully believe it and put that belief into action.
It's easy to discuss the life you think you want, but your current situation is a result of choices you’ve made. To transform your external reality, you must first address your internal state.
This principle also applies to self-care, whatever form that takes for you. Yes, it might include bubble baths or “mental health days,” where you enjoy a leisurely stroll around Target with your iced coffee (not that I’m speaking from experience). Yet, it also entails essential tasks like daily dental hygiene, regular exercise, and annual check-ups—activities that contribute to your overall well-being, even if you don’t particularly enjoy them.
Stay Committed
Both maintaining strong boundaries and dedicated self-care are essential for laying the foundation for manifestation.
You deserve the life you envision, but it requires effort on your part to attain it.
