Chapter 1: Overview of The City Quantum Summit
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming The City Quantum Summit, scheduled for October 2nd, 2023.
This morning, I received an exciting email detailing the latest information regarding the third edition of The City Quantum Summit. If you haven't registered yet, there's still time!
The preliminary schedule for this year's summit is now available, and it will be hosted at the impressive Mansion House. This event aims to unite professionals from both the City and the Quantum Community right in the heart of London.
The three core principles remain the same:
- Clear and straightforward language—no complex jargon.
- Gender-balanced panels to promote diversity.
- Free admission to encourage participation from students and emerging professionals.
You can catch a glimpse of last year's event by watching the short film from The City Quantum Summit 2022. Noteworthy is the blend of tradition with quantum mechanics, symbolized by the golden decorations and Greek statues.
We will kick off the day with a Diversity & Inclusion lunch, guided by Professor Grace Lordan from The Inclusion Initiative, along with other speakers yet to be confirmed. This exclusive session will host only 40 participants, following last year’s successful D&I lunch, which resulted in a significant briefing from the London School of Economics on the subject.
Participants will be welcomed by Professor and Alderman Dr. Michael Mainelli, who will take on the role of Lord Mayor of the City of London from November 2023 to 2024, alongside myself.
Following the welcome, there will be four distinct panels discussing user cases across various industries, funding for quantum enterprises, applications of quantum technology in finance, and its potential environmental benefits.
Some of the notable participants include Lene Oddershed from Novo Nordisk, Roman Orus from Multiverse Computing, Nadia Carlsten from Sandbox, and many others from leading organizations in the sector. Additional details can be found here.
A highlight of the event will be the world premiere of Marina Landia's Quantum and AI performance film, created specifically for this year's summit.
The evening will conclude with an exclusive dinner in the Old Ballroom, featuring a discussion between quantum pioneer whurley and Dame Elizabeth Corley, Chair of Schroders and the Impact Investing Institute.
Supported initiatives include The Inclusion Initiative from LSE and DiviQ, while media partnerships are established with The Quantum Insider and Quantum London. Confirmed sponsors encompass the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), Boeing, Strangeworks, and several prominent VC firms.
If you're interested in securing a sponsored spot or wish to register, please reach out!
